The Gloucestershire Oracle was set up in 2005, when we tried unsuccessfully to find swimming lessons in our area! At that time very few small businesses had an online presence, those that did were still difficult to find. We found 'local' directory sites of little use as, despite claiming to be local, they were not! The knowledge of where to go for classes had to be gleaned from the playground grapevine. So the idea of “sharing Gloucestershire’s local knowledge” was born!

Our ethos is to provide families in Gloucestershire with an informative, attractive and easy to navigate site, featuring genuinely local businesses.

We know how frustrating it is when you are looking for a local dog groomer or driving instructor, to find yourself on a so-called ‘local’ site, only to be faced with businesses located at the other end of the country! Therefore, we are selective about the businesses we add! You will only find Gloucestershire based businesses in our directory.

We offer relevant Gloucestershire businesses and clubs the opportunity to advertise free of charge, with an generous listing that many other directory sites make a charge for! All entries are listed in alphabetical order within each category as we believe this makes it easy for our visitors to find what they are looking for.
